Dental Implants

As you grow older, the likelihood that you’ll lose one or more teeth to decay or gum disease becomes a reality. Until a few years ago, your options for fixing those gaps were to install either bridges, partial dentures, or full dentures. But through advancements in dentistry, patients now have the option of having dental implants installed.
As one of Sugar Land’s best implant dentists, Dr. Hamilton has helped numerous patients enjoy continued dental health through the use of dental implants. Her patients enjoy a success rate of more than 98 percent, with a procedure that could last for the patient’s entire lifetime.
That makes dental implants an extremely durable alternative to other replacement methods, which may break or need to be replaced after a number of years. Implants are also more comfortable than dentures or bridges because they are more securely fastened to a person’s jaw. Implants also promote better dental health because unlike bridges, they do not disturb a patient’s surrounding teeth. In fact, there is virtually no difference between the implant and a patient’s natural teeth. And because they are permanent, once installed, a patient never has to think about them again, unlike dentures which can be removed or fall out, meaning that a person must deal with them again and again.
Having a dental implant installed by Dr. Hamilton is a fairly simple and straightforward procedure. A small titanium post is installed into the jawbone where the missing tooth once was. After the post heals and becomes fused with the jaw, sealing it into place, Dr. Hamilton takes impressions and creates a new tooth. The tooth is manufactured at a lab and then is installed onto the post.
As an alternative to implants, Dr. Hamilton also offers patients mini implants as well. Much like regular implants, but much less invasive, mini implants are installed under local anesthesia and usually takes less than two hours. The process involves installing a small pilot bit to anchor a screw into a jawbone. Most of the time, the new teeth can be attached during the same visit. The surgery is much simpler and there are fewer complications, less pain and shorter healing times. Another benefit of mini implants is that because they are simpler to install, they frequently cost considerably less than traditional implants.
